Sizing / Fitting / Measuring Guide
At Lamourella, we only sell plus size lingerie, and we want to help make sure that all of your seletions are sized to fit you perfectly, and accent your best features in all the right places! We have researched and worked extensively with our customers & designers to make sizing easy and as accurate as possible. Our size/fitting/measuring guide will help you select the right size.
1. Where does the fit matter most?
Our products come to us from the designers with a standard range of sizes between XL to 6X or by bust, which is what you will see on the product tags or packaging when you receive your order. To provide you with a more accurate fit, we looked at each product to determine where the fit matters most. The pictures below show how some types of lingerie need to fit correctly in the bust, while others need to be sized to the hips & waist or dress size measurements. We added bust or dress sizes for each item to complement the designer's standard sizing to provide you the most accurate sizing and fit for each product.
|Chemises, babydolls, bustiers, and corsets are sized by bust||Bras and Bralet Sets are also sized by bust||Most other lingerie items are sized by dress size|
2. How to accurately take your measurements to know what size to order:
For each product, look at the size options available (including dress or bust size), and open the chart next to each product description. To ensure the best fit, you need to know your bust, waist and hip measurements. If you already know them, great! If not, simply use our measuring guide to determine your measurements, then refer back to the size chart to determine which size to select based on your measurements.
(Note: measurements should be taken over bare skin, not over clothing)
Be sure to look at the size chart for each item you are ordering. While the designers we work with try to be true to size, there can be some slight variations in sizing. That's why each product has it's own specific size chart from the designer that takes these variations into account. It's also why we do not recommend guessing at the size to order, but to take the time to compare your measurements to the size charts for each lingerie piece to ensure the right fit.
3. Consider the style of lingerie, materials it is made of, and how you like to wear it or have it fit.
-Is the item meant to be shaping and curve hugging like a chemise or corset, or loose and flowing like a babydoll, gown or sleep shirt?
-Is it made of stretch lace and mesh with more give, or spandex and powernet that are more shaping?
-Do you like a tighter or loser fit? If your measurements are between sizes or measurement ranges, you will have to decide whether to size up or down to get the fit you desire.
4. Special note on sizing for long gowns and shapewear:
If you are looking at the long gowns, you should also take into account the length measurement from top of shoulder to floor. A person of small stature would have to take up the length significantly. On shapewear, we never recommend going below your size or measurements - while it is meant to smooth and control your curves, it should be snug but comfortable. If it is too tight it can actually be unsafe - this goes for too tight jeans as well!
